Photographing an infant for a passport is notoriously difficult. The State Department requires eyes open, mouth closed, white background, no shadows — from a subject with little interest in cooperation.

Our photographers know how to work with babies and young children. We have the patience, the equipment, and the technique to get a compliant result without the stress. No phone cameras, no white-sheet workarounds.

Children of all ages are welcome — infants through teenagers. Each age group has its own approach, and we've mastered them all.

US State Dept. Tips for Infants
  • → Lay baby on a plain white or off-white sheet, or cover a car seat with one
  • → Ensure no shadows fall on the baby's face
  • → Eyes do not have to be fully open for infants
  • → No other people or objects should appear in the frame
  • → All other children must have eyes open
  • → Neutral expression — no toys, pacifiers, or head coverings

REAL ID & Domestic Travel

You May Need This.

As of May 2025, a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, including a US passport, is required for domestic air travel. If your state ID is not yet REAL ID compliant, a valid US passport serves as an accepted alternative.
